Beetles live in most environments, from fields to forests and the deserts and even inside bags of wheat and rice stored, but it is noticeable that they have not been recorded in the polar regions, or the sea. Beetles feed on plants, fungi and invertebrates, there are also some predatory species feeding on devouring some vermin and on young birds and mammals, and some species are considered a domestic
and agricultural pest, gnawing furniture from the inside and destroying crops and stored materials. Sand beetles, their name suggests live in the desert, these beetles have developed an interesting way to overcome the lack of water in the desert. They drink drops of water condensing or their backs, through its vapors in the air.
Also sand beetle uses very clever ways to get water in the aride wilderness, the insect no larger than a berry, elongates its body during winds causing mist droplets to accumulate on its body all the way to its mouth. The spherical shape that characterizes the sand beetles outer shell is able to capture water 2.5 times more efficiently than smooth balls. These beetles are distinguished by their hard outer shells made of tough chitin.
